Magic Water
An R Marine initiative, BlueWater is so-called for the true colour of the ocean. (Both cloth and motor sailors refer to ‘blue water cruising’, meaning proper ocean passages.) From varying shades of jade green over a shallow bottom, the colour of seawater becomes progressively a rich, deep ultramarine the further seaward you go. That’s the blue highway, the magic water that carries you to near or distant — and different — cruising playgrounds, around Australia, or even around the entire blue planet itself.
The long and the short
The core idea of BlueWater is what we call “accompanied involvement”. Instead of you having to try to patch together skills and experience on your own, it offers a structured repertoire of flotilla cruises and events ranging from overnight spins to week-long jaunts. Seasoned staff and support vessels accompany the convoys and smooth the way.
As your experience and confidence grow, you can step up the duration and distance. Just to give you some idea: If your hailing port is the Gold Coast, you can join a short run to Grafton (for the Jacaranda Festival) or a longer sojourn to, say, Fraser or Whitsunday Islands. From Sydney, you can go short, to Port Stephens or Lake Macquarie; or longer, to Coffs Harbour. Out of Perth, the closer choice is our Geographe Bay Experience, or longer, to Margaret River. Adelaide offers a short cruise to Port Lincoln; or further afield to Streaky Bay. And so on.
With 12 locations around Australia, R Marine offers plenty of options for BlueWater participants at every level.
